The Bakersfield Condors will wear special jerseys for a Nov. 16 game that are going to be very difficult for any other hockey team to top this season. The ECHL team will host a Seinfeld-themed game night in honor of the 25th Anniversary of the first episode of the famous sitcom. As part of that event, the Condors will wear "Puffy Shirt" jerseys and instead of player surnames appearing on the name bars, they'll use character names from the show. So far, 20 names have been confirmed: Jerry, George, Kramer, Newman, Frank Costanza, Puddy, J. Peterman, Steinbrenner, Morty Seinfeld, Uncle Leo, Art Vandelay, Kenny Bania, Lloyd Braun, Jackie Chiles, Crazy Joe Davola, Mandelbaum, Bubble Boy, Keith Hernandez, Mickey Abbott and Assman. The team is taking submissions for the final five names through their Facebook, Twtter and Instagram accounts. And making these jerseys even better are the "sponsors" who will appear. Among them are Vandelay Industries, Pendant Publishing and Kramerica. But what if the players don't want to be pirates?
The team may or may not have been talked into wearing these duds by a low-talker. Here is some more information about the night: • Ozmo Kramer, the world's greatest Kramer impersonator, will be on hand to take pictures with fans, drop the puck, and sign autographs • Fans who bring a can of soup or box of cereal (Jerry's favorite) for donation will receive a two-for-one "Soup Or Cereal" ticket • You could paint your face for a 2-for-1 ticket ... y'know to support the team • Five lucky fans will win festivus poles ... no tinsel ... we find tinsel very distracting • Five lucky fans will win coffee table books • The team will have a rickshaw race on ice during the first intermission • Dance cam will feature an Elaine style dance-off • Come dressed as your favorite character; best dressed costume wins a marble rye.
