Blue Jackets’ Dubinsky (elbow) to miss 2-3 weeks

The Columbus forward was placed on injured reserve with an elbow injury.

The Columbus Blue Jackets will be without the services of forward Brandon Dubinsky for 2-3 weeks the club announced.

Dubinsky was a late scratch prior to the Blue Jackets game on Friday night in Pittsburgh with an upper body injury and missed his second game with the injury on Saturday.

According to Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch, the 29-year-old previously suffered an elbow injury, which required stitches. It became infected on Friday.

“I’m not going to elaborate, but it’s an elbow injury and that’s as far as I’m going with it,” John Tortorella said. “He’s played really well. It’s a guy that’s getting 20-plus during a game in all situations. Sure, we’re going to miss him, but it gives other guys opportunities.

“That’s the only way you can look it, and I know coaches say that all the time, but it’s the truth. We need to look by Dubi here and focus on the team, and other guys have to take his minutes.”

Kerby Rychel was added to the Blue Jackets roster on an emergency recall on Saturday and took Dubinsky's spot in the lineup playing 8:23 in Columbus’ 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes.

Dubinsky, who was placed on injured reserve, has four goals and seven assists in 16 games while leading all Blue Jackets forwards in ice time averaging 18:46 a night.
