San Jose Sharks honor Metallica with awesome custom jerseys

Metallica is one of the seminal rock bands in music history, and they’ve got quite a storied history in California. The group has made evident their love of Bay Area sports teams, and the San Jose Sharks played their part on Wednesday night with ‘Metallica Night.’ As part of the themed night, the team had vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield, drummer Lars Ulrich, and bassist Robert Trujillo drop the ceremonial puck, played Metallica throughout the night, and handed the team some custom made Metallica/Sharks jerseys. When the themed night was announced back in December, Metallica took to their website to write a bit about their love of the Sharks. “As some of you may know, we have been long supporters of the Sharks going back to the mid-90's when the team moved permanently to San Jose,” the site says. “Over the years we've made many treks down to the Shark Tank. So it's actually pretty fitting that we finally connect with the team for a night of metal and hockey.” According to Metallica’s website, part of the proceeds from special Metallica Night tickets, which included a Metalli-Sharks t-shirt, went to benefit the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the Sierra Club. No word yet on whether or not Brent Burns has been asked to permanently join the band on the road as their mascot.
