Blue Jackets Sign Top Prospect Kent Johnson
Kent Johnson had quite the season.
The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed 2021 fifth-overall pick Kent Johnson to a three-year entry-level contract. Aaron Portzline of The Athletic was the first to report.
Johnson finished his two-year run at the University of Michigan with 64 points in 58 games. Johnson also had five points for Canada at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games and was part of his nation's World Junior Championship effort before it was cut short due to COVID-19.
The CJHL's top player in 2020, Johnson is a great passer with good speed, stout offensive awareness and is reliable in his own zone.
