Boston Bruins centre Marc Savard added to East team for NHL all-star game

BOSTON - Boston Bruins centre Marc Savard was named Monday to the Eastern Conference team for the NHL all-star game.

Savard replaced Ottawa Senators forward Dany Heatley, who is expected to miss six weeks due to a shoulder injury.

Savard, in his 10th season in the NHL, will make his first career all-star appearance Jan. 27 in Atlanta. He leads the Bruins with 47 points this season (11 goals, 36 assists). Savard joins Boston defenceman Zdeno Chara, who was selected as a starter last week.

Last season, his first with Boston, Savard had a career-best 74 assists and had 96 points, one less than his high set the previous season with Atlanta.
