Boston Bruins re-sign defenceman Dennis Wideman to extension

BOSTON - The Bruins signed defenceman Dennis Wideman to a multiyear contract extension on Wednesday.

Wideman had career bests last season with 13 goals and 23 assists in 81 games with Boston. He was the No. 2 scoring defenceman to captain Zdeno Chara and sixth overall on the team.

He had three assists in six playoff games for the Bruins last season.
