The NHL has announced that Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand has been suspended three games for slew footing Vancouver Canucks defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson on Sunday evening.
Marchand will forfeit $91,875, with the money going to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
The infraction occurred just over a minute into the opening period. While racing for the puck with Ekman-Larsson, Marchand got his right foot to take down the Canucks defender from behind.
The suspension is the seventh of Marchand's career. Marchand was previously suspended in 2015 for slew-footing Derick Brassard, among other penalties.
