The Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Christian Dvorak has undergone season-ending knee surgery.
The hits keep coming in La Belle Province.
The Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Christian Dvorak has undergone knee surgery in New York on Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the season.
According to a statement by the Canadiens, Dvorak is expected to fully recover before the beginning of the 2023-24 NHL season.
While the Canadiens certainly are not gearing up for a playoff run, losing a player like Dvorak to such a serious injury is still a disheartening outcome.
In 64 games this season, Dvorak racked up 10 goals and 18 assists for 28 points, all while logging roughly 17 minutes in average ice time and taking on heavy defensive assignments by beginning just 39.9 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone.
The 27-year-old is under contract through the 2024-25 season at an average annual value of $4.45 million. He will likely remain a regular contributor for the Canadiens as they hope to inch towards relevancy in the coming years following their aggressive rebuild.
