MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens forward Rene Bourque will be sidelined eight to 12 weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery on Wednesday.
The team says the operation was to repair an abdominal wall tear.
Bourque suffered the injury during his off-season training.
The 30-year-old winger had five goals and three assists in 38 games last season.
