Canucks Hire Rachel Doerrie in Analytics Role

The Vancouver Canucks have hired The Hockey News' own Rachel Doerrie to join their front office in an analytics role.
Rachel Doerrie

The Hockey News' own Rachel Doerrie is venturing back into the NHL, joining the Vancouver Canucks as part of the organization's growing analytics team.

Doerrie, who previously served as a player and video analyst for the New Jersey Devils, possesses the unique ability to not only analyze the nuances of the game but translate that information in a way that is easily digestable to those who consume it.

Now, Doerrie will be joining a Canucks front office that has seen a number of young and intriguing faces enter the fold in the months since Jim Rutherford took over as president of hockey operations.

Unfortunately, though, this means that Doerrie's role on the Staff & Graph Podcast, part of The Hockey News network, has reached its end, with the 25-year-old wunderkind recording her final episode of the show on Thursday morning.

That episode can be found here.

From Mike Stephens, co-host of Staff & Graph: Rachel is, without a doubt, one of the smartest and most driven people I have ever had the chance to work with. Her eye for the game is second-to-none, and the Canucks are extremely lucky to be the beneficiaries of her insight moving forward.

Hosting the Staff & Graph Podcast with Rachel has been one of the highlights of my career. She is truly one-of-a-kind, and it's been a privilege to ride the coattails of her genius throughout our time as co-hosts, knowing full well that an NHL team would be smart enough to snatch her up sooner rather than later.

Now, that time has come. And it could not be more deserved.

Rachel is not just my co-host. She is my best friend, and one of the kindest people I have ever met. I start every show by referring to her as the "future first female GM in NHL history" for a reason. That is not merely a bit. It's going to happen. There is not a doubt in my mind that Rachel will one day achieve that goal. And the hockey world will be better off for it.

Vancouver, you got a good one. Take care of her.

To say that feelings of hate existed between the Maple Leafs and Red Wings during the 1946-47 season would be the understatement of the half-century. And during the 1947 playoffs, one game had an incredible 27 penalties.
