After missing the entire season to date due to a long-term knee injury, Carey Price is set to make his 2021-22 debut on Friday against the New York Islanders.
The news comes just two days after Jake Allen suffered a lower-body injury against the Montreal Canadiens, putting the team down another goalie. The Canadiens set an all-time record for man-games lost this season, with season-long injuries to Price and captain Shea Weber playing a big part.
Price overcame a late-season concussion to take the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 1993. Price, 34, played some of the best hockey of his career for a Canadiens team that likely would have missed the playoffs in a non-COVID year.
The Canadiens will miss the playoffs this season, but this late-season return from one of its biggest stars will surely be a popular moment.
