THN.com/podcast. From THN On The 'Dub': Reflecting on Connor Bedard's WHL Season as Round 2 Begins

The Chicago Blackhawks have won the 2023 Draft Lottery, officially earning the right to pick first at the NHL draft this June in Nashville.

This, of course, is a momentous day for the franchise on the ice, with the club almost certainly guaranteed to select generational superstar Connor Bedard with their newly-minted top pick, who has the potential to serve as the face of the franchise for years to come.

It's difficult to describe just how dominant Bedard has been throughout his amateur career.

The Vancouver native finished the 2022-23 season with an absolutely astounding 71 goals and 72 assists for 143 points in just 57 games, dragging the hapless Regina Pats to the WHL playoffs against all odds. Bedard also shone on the international stage this season as well, dominating the 2023 World Junior Championship to the tune of nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points in a mere seven games to lead Canada to a gold medal and earn himself tournament MVP honors.

Now, Bedard appears ready to take his talents to Chicago and kickstart an entirely new era for the franchise.

As a result of the Blackhawks' lottery win, the Anaheim Ducks will now pick second overall, while the Columbus Blue Jackets will round out the top three in third.

The 2023 NHL draft will take place in Nashville on June 28 and 29.
