The news comes as sanctions continue to get placed on Russian hockey teams around the world. Hockey Canada already announced they will exclude Russia from events they host involving Team Canada, so this was next on the docket.
The last Canada-Russia series took place in 2019, with the 2020 and 2021 editions getting cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The CHL met with its member clubs on Wednesday to discuss the future of Russian and Belarusian players at the CHL import draft. No announcement is expected to be made on Wednesday. It's believed teams have pushed back on the notion of banning players from those two nations, prolonging the process.
