I believe Malkin was snubbed of the Conn Smythe in 2017. He led the NHL in points in the 2017 playoffs and was directly involved roughly 40% of all the goals the Penguins as a team scored through the 2017 run never not showing up as he either scored or assisted on 26 of the 67 goals the penguins as a team scored throughout all four rounds in the run (he recorded 10 goals and 18 assists for a league leading 28 points individually).

I believe the award was only given to Crosby out of name bias as unpopular as that might sound. I 100% agree of him winning it in 2016, but 2017 was always questionable to me.

Although he wasn't great in the 2017 playoffs compared to other runs such as 2009 or 2008, he certainly did have a dominant run himself in 2017 still as he lead the entire league in assists and was second in points (only 1 point behind Malkin the league leading point title) and played in all but one game in the second round. He obviously is a generational talent and always will be, but Geno never really got as much admiration as he should've.
