I suspect that members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association watch a lot of hockey. But I'm starting to question how much actual attention they pay to what they are watching.
I read Ottawa Sun's Callum Fraser's column today, where he highlighted the voting on the upcoming Norris Trophy candidates and pointed out that Ottawa defenseman Jake Sanderson was somehow nowhere in sight.
Seriously?
I watch a lot of hockey. A lot. And I have huge respect for Makar, Werenski, Heiskanen and the others on the list. But the idea that Sanderson isn't right up there with them is absurd - and clear evidence that hockey writers need to watch an Ottawa game every now and then.
Sanderson is a monster out there - every game - game in and game out. I challenge any writer to identify exactly what these other players are doing that Sandy isn't.
