How Many Canadian Teams Will Make The 2026-27 Stanley Cup Playoffs?

The Edmonton Oilers, Montreal Canadiens, and Ottawa Senators were the only Canadian teams to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the 2025-26 season.

The Oilers have had major changes, bringing in Mike Babcock behind the bench and signing Frederik Andersen after a Stanley Cup run with the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Senators lost their captain, Brady Tkachuk, while William Eklund was their major acquisition of the summer.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets both took major steps back after losing major offensive contributors in Mitch Marner and Nikolaj Ehlers, respectively, through free agency.

The Maple Leafs then drafted Gavin McKenna, brought in Darren Raddysh, Sergei Bobrovsky, while also completely re-working the front office and bottom-six forward group.

The Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames have fully embraced the rebuilding stage and look far away from contention.
