The Abbotsford Canucks beat the Charlotte Checkers to win the Calder Cup Finals 4-2 Monday night.
After a tense year for the Vancouver Canucks, their AHL affiliate is victorious. Goaltender Arturs Silovs, 24, is the playoff MVP more than one year after manning the crease in Vancouver in last year's playoffs, when they lost in Game 7 to the Edmonton Oilers in the second round. Arshdeep Bains, 24, finished second in playoff scoring; 25-year-old Linus Karlsson finished first.
How many players on this championship team will graduate to the NHL? And could they boost Vancouver back into Cup contention?
