The conference finals went by very quickly, which has led to a new wave of debate about the NHL's playoff format.
Vegas swept Colorado, and Carolina beat Montreal in five games.
In the West, some earlier matchups that could have been stellar in the conference finals were Dallas and Minnesota, and Colorado versus Minnesota.
But honestly, there will be good playoff series in any round, no matter the format. If Colorado swept Vegas, which finished 13th in the overall standings, then maybe there's more of an argument about the format. But Vegas swept the Presidents' Trophy winners. If you predicted that and had stats to back up the prediction, you deserve a medal.
As for the East, the Atlantic Division was very competitive this season, and Montreal got to the ECF fair and square. Any team can get hot in the playoffs, and any team can get cold.
