The debate about fighting in the NHL has two passionate camps, and the current Memorial Cup has already had a couple of fisticuffs that generated some buzz.

But in any IIHF-sanctioned tournament, such as the World Championship, anyone who fights gets at minimum a five-minute major and game misconduct. The intention is to keep hockey focused on speed, skill and flow.

I don't mind those penalties at all for IIHF hockey. I doubt the majority of fans would want those rules in the NHL, though, and there's been some displeasure about stricter fighting rules in the CHL over the past few years.

What do you think? Should the IIHF even consider changing fighting rules? Let us know right here in The Hockey News Community forum.
