The Dylan Larkin Injury Convenient?
Well, I have to say I am kicking myself for not predicting this one. I have to imagine that this a "mutual agreement mishap" that was discussed between both parties from the time of Stevie Yzerman's firing 2 months ago. I have predicted the way this Larkin situation was probably going to go from the beginning when Larkin made his trade request. I predicted he would pick 3 teams and two of them would be known to the Larkin camp to be unlikely trade partners and the other one would be Minnesota. I thought it would be Tampa and Florida but it turned out to be Vegas and Florida. Worked either way. Ron Mont and I on the "Puck In Deep" podcast than predicted Yzerman's demise which happened a couple days after doing so. I still believe that the lack of official announcement on Horcoff being G.M was a stall tactic so Detroit could focus on discussions with Larkin on a possible reconciliation but did not see that happening. My final prediction from when Larkin made his trade request was that he would end up in Minnesota one way or another before puck drop of the first game of the regular season this year. The news of Dylans "injury" has me still feeling that that will happen. It would seem to me that Detroit wants nothing to do with Larkin being in the room or even close to the arena right now with this news. For Larkin, this works fine as well as he does not have to answer the same awkward questions with "no comment" answers and can choose to be not injured at any time to force the situation. It all comes down to what I figured. Minnesota does wants Larkin before the season starts, Detroit wants the situation gone and nothing to do with Larkin in the room and Larkin obviously wants to be in Minnesota. Detroit has done well to force max from the Wild by delaying the way they have and will likely get the best package that can be got. In the end it was always Minnesota
Or Larkin is actually injured..
