There's been speculation the New York Rangers could look to trade captain Jacob Trouba, but the complications emerged soon after. Here's the latest roundup.

Trade rumors started swirling around Jacob Trouba following the New York Rangers' elimination from the Eastern Conference final.
That speculation gathered steam throughout June, especially after the Rangers' surprising decision to waive Barclay Goodrow and his subsequent claim by the San Jose Sharks.
Reports emerged by the draft weekend indicating the Rangers were working on a trade to send Trouba to the Detroit Red Wings. GM Chris Drury was attempting to clear the 30-year-old defenseman's $8-million cap hit from his books.
Trouba had a full no-movement clause until June 30, after which it became a 15-team no-trade list. Some observers assumed the Michigan native wouldn't stand in the way of such a deal. It was also reported family considerations were being taken into account.
Complications soon emerged. The Athletic's Arthur Staple reported the Rangers asked for Trouba's 15-team no-trade list last week, well before July 1. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman indicated that the Rangers captain was said to be shocked by the possibility of getting traded. There was talk he was hurt over the club's handling of the situation.
Staple reported on July 2 that Trouba refused to submit his no-trade list until early Monday, potentially complicating some moves Drury wanted to make in the free agent market. He also speculated the blueliner could put the Red Wings on that list knowing Drury was trying to trade him there. Staple acknowledged a move to Detroit might not be an option given the Red Wings' recent additions through free agency.
Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli wondered if the Rangers might place Trouba on waivers as they did with Goodrow. Meanwhile, the New York Post's Larry Brooks reported the hospital residency of Trouba's wife, Dr. Kelly Tyson-Trouba, was keeping him with the Rangers. Her residency was deferred a year to July 2025.
Brooks also indicated sources claim the rumor that Trouba rejected a trade to Detroit was untrue. They also told him that discussions between the blueliner's camp and Rangers management were professional and without any animosity.
As things stand, there's no indication the Rangers are any closer to trading Trouba.
