At this rate, they might as well rename it the McDavid Award.

Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid was named the winner of the 2022-23 Hart Trophy at the NHL awards ceremony on Monday, taking home the honor for the third time in his young career to beat out a pair of compelling finalists in Florida's Matthew Tkachuk and Boston's David Pastrnak.

The win ensures that McDavid has run the gauntlet, having won the Ted Lindsay Award earlier in the night as the league's most outstanding player as voted on by his peers, and the Hart as the most valuable player to his team as voted on by members of the PHWA.

It's hard to argue with the result, either.

McDavid continued his decimation of the league at large in 2022-23 by reaching new offensive heights, leading the entire NHL in goals (64), assists (89), and points (153) in just 82 games. Those are unprecedented numbers in the modern NHL and once again show that McDavid has the potential to one day end up in the conversation for the greatest player to ever play.

It's yet another piece of hardware to put on the mantle of a player who might run out of space by the end of the night.
