Coveted KHL Free Agent Andrei Kuzmenko to Sign with Vancouver Canucks

One of the top KHL free agents is heading to Vancouver, with Andrei Kuzmenko electing to sign with the Canucks.

One of the top KHL free agents is heading to Vancouver.

The Vancouver Canucks have reportedly signed forward Andrei Kuzmenko to a contract, according to Kuzmenko's own Instagram page. Kuzmenko's agent, Dan Milstein, confirmed the choice.

Kuzemnko, 26, is coming off his best season in the KHL with 20 goals and 53 points in 45 games. He has increased his point production every year in the KHL, recording 200 points in 315 games with CSKA Moskva and SKA St. Petersburg.

Kuzmenko was a highly sought-after free agent, meeting with a couple of coubs over the past few weeks. Kuzmenko is a bit of a late-blooomer, going unselected at the MHL draft before emerging as a breakout player in Russia. KHL free agents can be a bit of a mixed bag: for every Artemi Panarin, you can get a Vadim Shipachyov.

At the very least, the Canucks are getting cheap scoring depth on the wing that could still bloom into something of note.
