Dallas Stars claim centre Brendan Morrison off re-entry waivers

Brendan Morrison is joining the Dallas Stars.

The NHL team claimed the veteran centre off re-entry waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.

Dallas and Anaheim will split what's left on Morrison's US$2.75 million this season. He's eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The 33-year-old has 22 points (10-12) in 62 games for Anaheim this season.

"Brendan Morrison is a skilled veteran who brings valuable experience and character to our team for this playoff push," Stars GM Les Jackson said in a statement. "He is a strong competitor who we are excited to add to our group."
