Defenceman Shane Hnidy signs two-year contract with Anaheim Ducks

The 31-year-old Hnidy, who had five goals and seven assists in 72 games for the Atlanta Thrashers last season, will earn $755,000 next season and $760,000 in the 2008-09 campaign.

Hnidy has recorded nine goals and 28 assists in 336 career games with Ottawa, Nashville and Atlanta. He has posted two goals and one assist in 23 career playoff games.

Defenceman Mathieu Schneider signed a $11.25-million, two-year deal with Anaheim last Sunday, and right-winger Todd Bertuzzi joined the team the following day, agreeing to a $8-million, two-year deal.
