
The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenseman Sean Behrens to a three-year entry-level contract, the team announced Friday.
Behrens, drafted in the second round (61st overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft, just wrapped up his junior season with the Pioneers. In 44 games this season, he scored four goals and added 27 assists for 31 points, Throughout his 112 career NCAA games, the Barrington, Ill., native scored 10 goals and 71 assists for 81 points.
Before Denver, Behrens suited up for the U.S. National Team Development Program where he spent parts of two seasons, scoring 14 goals and adding 61 assists for 75 points in 97 career games.
An offensive minded defenseman who can create for himself and others, Behrens fits the mold of what Colorado likes to see in their defensemen. While he will take time to adjust to the professional level, Behrens has continued to develop and will only get better.
Behrens signed an amateur try-out with the Colorado Eagles for the rest of the 2023-24 season, with his ELC slated to start next year.
