Status: Calgary Flames defenseman

HT: 6-foot-3 WT: 214 pounds

DOB: April 10, 1985 In: Edmonton

Hockey Inspiration: "Growing up in Edmonton I'd have to say - I was a huge Oilers fan as a kid - it's a great hockey town to grow up in. Just all the success that they had there when I was younger. I definitely have to say watching Wayne, he was definitely my favorite player when I was younger. I became a huge fan of the game and the Oilers at a very young age."

Hobbies/Leisure Activities: "I like to boat a lot. I like tennis; I like golf; love music; and really enjoy movies."

"D, Neuf, Neufy."

Favorite Movie: "Jerry McGuire, Old School, Blow with Johnny Depp. I like a lot of them, those are three."

Favorite TV Show: "Prison Break."

Musical Tastes: "Tragically Hip, Staind, Coldplay, T.I., Rihanna, I'm all over the map. Those are my tops for now."

Last Book Read: "The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx, Motley Crue. The documentary on them."

First Hockey Memory: "Probably out at my backyard rink as a kid. I was always fortunate enough my dad put a rink in my backyard. I used to be out there all the time. They'd try to drag us off, me and my buddies, and we'd always want to stay later. Even when I go home at Christmas, I always get out there. I have a younger brother (Dane) who plays up there and he's the same as I was - he's always out there ‘till the wee hours in the morning. And I always try to get out there with him."

Favorite Meal: "I love lobster."

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: "Chocolate."

First Job: "Worked at outdoor rink."

First Car: "1978 Valiant Scamp; yellow Corvette."

Current Car: "Lexus SUV (black)."

Pre-Game Feeling: "(Think of) who the guys are on the other team that you're gonna be playing against. Their tendencies. Just getting yourself ready to go, in that mindset of being sharp for the full game. There's a lot of preparation in the game. And you have to be ready night after night, whether you had a good one or bad one the night before."

Greatest Sports Moment: "Winning the world juniors in North Dakota (2005) or being drafted to the National Hockey League (9th overall in 2003). Either one."

Most Painful Moment: "Losing the gold medal game in Helsinki, Finland, to the U.S. (2004)."

Most Memorable Goal: "My first one (in 2005). That was my biggest one. In Colorado. Very memorable. (Why that over all others?) It's your first goal in the National Hockey League. Unbelievable feeling."

Closest NHL Friends: "Daymond Langkow; Bryan Marchment; Tony Amonte; Mark Giordano."

Funniest Players Encountered: "Andre Roy. (What is it about him? A lot of people say him.) He's got a great personality. A lot of fun. Every day at the rink is always a lot of fun with him. He's a real positive guy and a great guy to have on your team. Really, really enjoy having him here."

Toughest Competitors: "There's a lot of them. I think the most skilled guy that competes the hardest would be Ovechkin. He's a guy who's not only skilled, but he'll hit you hard. I'd have to say him for the most competitive guy with a lot of skill."

Funny Hockey Memory: "Actually, I don't have a real memory, but Brian Boucher is another real funny guy to play with. Very funny guy. And he's great to have in the locker room, too. But I can't think of a funny memory off the top of my head. Just hangin' out with Mark Giordano is a great experience."

Embarrassing Hockey Memory: "I'm sure there's been a few. But I can't remember right off the top of my head."

Favorite Players To Watch: "Definitely like to watch a guy like Nick (Lidstrom) who's won Norris after Norris after Norris. You like to watch him and see his tendencies and learn from a guy who's been great for so many years. (Other sports?) I love watching tennis. I saw Roger Federer at the U.S. Open last year; he was very impressive to watch. I like watching golf. Tiger.”

Favorite Vacation Spot: "Hawaii."
