Free Agent Frenzy continues to roll on.

The Anaheim Ducks snagged one of the biggest names on the market on Saturday, agreeing to terms with forward Alex Killorn on a four-year contract worth an average annual value of $6.25 million.

The deal ties Killorn to Anaheim through the 2027-28 season and marks the veteran's departure from the Tampa Bay Lightning after spending his entire 11-year career there.

While Killorn’s age at 33 suggests his best years are behind him, that may not be the case. This past season, Killorn actually produced a career-high 64 points in 82 games for the Lightning, logging 17:13 in average nightly ice time. Killorn continued that momentum into this year’s playoffs despite the Lightning’s first-round exit, with three goals and two assists in six games against the Toronto Maple Leafs, tied for the second-most on his team in that series. He also took big minutes in the first round, averaging 19:47 per game.

After the Lightning drafted the Halifax, N.S. native 77th overall in 2007, Killorn has 198 goals and 268 assists for 466 points in 805 career NHL games. In 140 post-season contests, Killorn has 37 goals and 40 assists for 77 points.

The Ducks are now able to add Killorn to a forward corps that features Trevor Zegras, Troy Terry, and 2023 second-overall pick Adam Fantilli. The deal itself, however, is quite the overpay on paper, as Killorn will be 37 upon expiry and plays a style of hockey that doesn't exactly suggest his body will hold up in old age.

Stay tuned. More signings will continue to roll in as the day progresses.
