It's been a busy week for the Edmonton Oilers with a number of changes hitting the team's line-up.

On Dec. 29 the Oilers grabbed winger Matt Fraser off waivers from the Boston Bruins, while also trading Mark Arcobello to the Nashville Predators for veteran Derek Roy.

Edmonton then followed this transaction with another, trading forward David Perron to the Pittsburgh Penguins for Rob Klinkhammer and a 2015 first-round pick.

The rosters moves continued today, when the Oilers announced that they have sent top prospect Leon Draisaitl to the CHL.

Draisaitl will likely return to the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL, but could possibly be traded.

The 19-year-old German forward was the third pick in last year’s draft and had two goals and seven assists in 37 games so far this season.

By sending Draisaitl back before he played his 40th game as an Oiler the team keep him from adding a year toward free agency.

Edmonton kept the youngster around for more than nine games, which burned the first year of his entry-level contract.
