Evgeni Nabokov released from KHL contract with SKA St. Petersburg
Former NHL goalie Evgeni Nabokov has been released by his Kontinental League team, SKA St. Petersburg.
According to a release on the team’s website, the decision made due to “family circumstances.”
Nabokov played 10 seasons in the NHL, all with the San Jose Sharks, posting 293 wins and a 2.39 GAA in his NHL career.
In the KHL, Nabokov had been struggling with an 8-8-5 record, 3.02 GAA and .888 save percentage.
Nabokov was originally picked in the ninth round (219th overall) by the Sharks in the 1994 NHL draft.
