Flashy Freshman: Sharks centre Logan Couture named NHL rookie of the month

NEW YORK, N.Y. - San Jose Sharks centre Logan Couture was named NHL rookie of the month Wednesday.

He led all rookies in scoring with 14 points (10 goals, four assists) last month.

Edmonton Oilers left-winger Taylor Hall was also considered after posting 10 points (6-4) in 13 games.

Couture, a 21-year-old native of Guelph, Ont., was selected by the Sharks with the ninth overall pick of the 2007 NHL entry draft.
