
The evidence is right there that Darnell Nurse is struggling mightily in the Western Conference final. If the Oilers sit him, they can't worry about hurt feelings, says Ken Campbell.

However this season ends, the Edmonton Oilers will be faced with having defenseman Darnell Nurse on a $9.25-million cap hit for each of the next six seasons. In real cash, they'll be paying him $12 million next season.
As the kids say: Woof.
But that's a problem for the summer and beyond and probably an issue for a new GM. What the Oilers have in the present is to decide what to do with Nurse right now, like, for Game 4 of the Western Conference final and then the rest of the series.
His play, especially in his own zone, has been pretty weak. It's hurting the Oilers almost as much as Stuart Skinner's penchant for letting in bad goals. And if the Oilers decide they're better without him in the short term, they simply cannot worry about the implications in the long term.
