The National Lacrosse League announced earlier this week that former NHL league executive Jessica Berman will assume the role of NLL commissioner after the departure of Nick Sakiewicz.
The league is currently in the process of finding a permanent commissioner.
During her 13-year run in the NHL, Berman held a number of different roles, including the vice president of community development, culture and growth, and as part of the league's senior counsel. Berman left the league in September of 2019 to become the NLL's deputy commissioner.
While working in the NHL, Berman was part of the collective bargaining team for the 2012 NHL/NHLPA CBA agreement. In that role, she helped work to draft the agreement and the impact of any changes.
