    Former Anaheim Ducks forward Nicolas Kerdiles passed away on Saturday in a motorcycle accident at the age of 29.

    Former Anaheim Ducks forward Nicolas Kerdiles died on Saturday in a motorcycle accident, the team shared in a statement. Kerdiles was 29. 

    "We’re heartbroken to hear the news about Nic Kerdiles, who died in a motorcycle accident this morning," the Ducks said in a social media post. 

    "An Irvine (Calif.) native, Nic became the first player from Orange County to play for the Ducks in 2017. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and loved ones."

    Kerdiles was drafted by the Ducks 36th overall in the 2012 NHL draft. He played one game for the Ducks in the 2016-17 season and two in 2017-18, finishing as a plus-1. He played primarily in the AHL throughout his time in professional hockey, racking up 107 points in 180 games with the San Diego Gulls, Norfolk Admirals and Manitoba Moose. 

    Before his professional career, Kerdiles spent five seasons in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program, and he also played for Team USA for the U-17 World Hockey Challenge, World Men's U-18s and world juniors. He then spent two seasons at the University of Wisconsin, putting up a combined 71 points in 60 games.
