The Vegas Golden Knights have acquired defenseman Dysin Mayo from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Shea Weber and a 2023 fifth-round draft pick.
Trade season is in full effect.
The Vegas Golden Knights got in on the action for themselves on Wednesday afternoon, acquiring defenseman Dysin Mayo from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for the contract of defenseman Shea Weber and a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NHL draft.
Weber has not played since the 2021 season due to injury and has been on long-term injured reserve since September, with the Coyotes now taking on his full $7,857,143 cap hit through 2025-26.
In Mayo, the Golden Knights acquire a right-shot defenseman who can play at the bottom of their lineup. Mayo has split his time between the NHL and AHL relatively evenly this season, going pointless in 15 games with the Coyotes while posting two goals and five assists for seven points in 26 games for the Tucson Roadrunners.
While Mayo likely won't slide into Vegas' lineup right away, he provides them serviceable depth on the blueline as the club hopes to keep itself within a heated Western Conference playoff race.
