Highlight of the Night: Phil Kessel thrills with hat trick

Phil Kessel scorched the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, registering a hat trick and hitting the 30-goal plateau for the fifth time in his career.

Highlight of the Night: Phil Kessel thrills with hat trickHighlight of the Night: Phil Kessel thrills with hat trick

Phil Kessel's hat trick Saturday night was appropriate for a couple of reasons. First, because it came against the Ottawa Senators, a team he's historically scorched. Second, because it elevated the 26-year-old to the 30-goal mark for the fifth time. He's reached that level every season except his rookie year with Boston and the lockout-shortened 2012-13 campaign.

Kessel's three tallies were a mixed bag. The first and third weren't spectacular, but goal No. 2 was about as precise a top-corner snipe as you'll ever see.

Kessel now sits second in the league in goals, behind only Alex Ovechkin's 38.
