The private equity owner of hockey equipment company CCM is close to finalizing a sale, according to TSN's Rick Westhead.

Birch Hill Equity Partners, which purchased CCM from Adidas for $110 million in 2017, is said to be selling the company for at least $570 million, sources involved in the sale process told Westhead. And the new ownership may increase prices significantly for skates and hockey equipment, an industry source told Westhead.

Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Auston Matthews and John Tavares are just some of a handful of NHL players who sport CCM gear. Sarah Nurse, Erin Ambrose and Taylor Heise are among the top women's hockey players, while the CCM website also lists goaltenders Thatcher Demko, Jacob Markstrom and Maddie Rooney sporting its gear.

The cheapest CCM skates for youth are currently priced at $41.99 U.S. on sale on its website, with the most expensive being $229.99. For intermediate players, the price ranges from a discounted $55.99 to $999.99, while for senior skaters, the cost ranges from $62.99 on sale to $1,149.99.

Flohockey.tv calculated the range of cost for player equipment to be between about $330 to $3,440, while costs to play can range from $500 to more than $3,000, depending on the league, competitive level and age level.

Westhead said CCM has more than doubled revenue and boosted profits, while bankers told him to expect the owners of Bauer Hockey and True Hockey to also explore sales.

Richard Dufour of La Presse also reported in early July that Bauer had been up for sale with lacrosse brand Maverik under the name Peak Achievement, co-owned by Fairfax Financial Holdings and Sagard, an asset management group.

Bauer was founded in 1927, while CCM was founded in 1899.

Disclaimer: The owner and publisher of The Hockey News, W. Graeme Roustan, was the past chairman of Bauer and currently owns hockey brands Northland, Christian and McKenney, which compete with Bauer and CCM. In addition, Roustan owns Roustan Hockey, which has made hockey sticks for Bauer and CCM.
