As the 2023-24 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey cards hit store shelves on March 6, several popular insert sets are back, while a new one makes its debut.
The 2023-24 Upper Deck Hockey card set continues this year with the release of Series 2.
As usual, Series 2 features another 200 base cards plus 50 Young Guns to collect. And yes – Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard will finally get his Young Guns rookie card in Series 2.
The Upper Deck Series 2 base set consists of 198 veteran players and two checklists. Look for cards of players who have changed teams during the off-season pictured in their new uniforms.
The short-printed Young Guns cards (one in every two Hobby packs) mark the cardboard debuts for some of this season’s biggest rookies. In addition to Bedard, other top freshmen found in Series 2 are Leo Carlsson (Ducks), Connor Zary (Flames), Dmitri Voronkov (Blue Jackets), and Matthew Poitras (Bruins). Overall, there are 49 different Young Guns rookie cards, plus a Young Guns checklist picturing Bedard and Carlsson.
Also be on the lookout for Outburst parallel versions of the base cards and Young Guns, including Outburst Silver, Outburst Red (numbered to 25 copies each) and Outburst Gold (numbered 1-of-1).
Like Series 1, packs of Upper Deck Series 2 have 12 cards per pack, with nine base cards and three insert cards. Several popular insert sets are back, while a new one makes its debut in Series 2.

DAZZLERS, which are printed on textured foilboard, return with another 50 cards to chase, including Blue, Pink, Orange, Green, Red, and Black versions. Dazzlers cards in Series 2 will consist of both rookie and veteran players.
UD PORTRAITS is also back with 30 new illustrations of the NHL’s top players portrayed as historical figures.
UD CANVAS rolls out another 150 cards, featuring some of Upper Deck’s most unique photography and printed on textured cardstock.
HONOR ROLL, reminiscent of the eponymous set from the early 2000s, continues in Series 2 with another 35 cards – but, this time, just of rookie players.

POPULATION COUNT, resembling cards in graded slabs, is back with another 30 cards.
