PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers defenceman Chris Pronger is out for Game 1 against the Buffalo Sabres.

Pronger, a former NHL MVP, has been sidelined since having hand surgery in March. He also missed time with a foot injury and was limited to 50 games this season.

He skated and held a stick during practice this week, but the Flyers say he won't play Thursday. He remains day to day. Pronger has said he's very confident he'll play against the Sabres.
