Another piece of hardware is heading to Beantown.
Boston Bruins coach Jim Montgomery has been named the winner of the 2022-23 Jack Adams Award on Monday, beating out a pair of compelling finalists in Seattle's Dave Hakstol and New Jersey's Lindy Ruff.
While all finalists are undoubtedly worthy of recognition, it's hard to argue with Montgomery's status as the victor.
After being expected to take a step back with an aging core, the Bruins ended up producing the single greatest regular season in NHL history in their first year under Montgomery, amassing a league-record 65 wins to capture the Presidents' Trophy and finish 20 points ahead of the closest team under them.
Montgomery appeared to give the Bruins precisely the voice they needed to exceed expectations in the regular season after taking over for Bruce Cassidy over the summer and it doesn't come as a shock now that he has hardware to show for it.
