The Los Angeles Kings have signed goaltender Cam Talbot to a one-year contract.

The Los Angeles Kings solidified their crease on Saturday, agreeing to terms with goaltender Cam Talbot on a one-year contract worth $1,000,000.

Talbot arrives in Los Angeles coming off a clear down year with the Ottawa Senators in 2022-23, finishing the season with a 17-14-2 record along with one shutout and a .898 save percentage in 36 appearances. It was an injury-plagued campaign for the 35-year-old who just couldn't bounce back from an early stint on injured reserve to start the year, never seeming comfortable in the crease and ultimately missing the bulk of February and March to various health ailments, as well.

Perhaps a fresh start could be the best thing for Talbot. The veteran netminder posted save percentages of .919, .915, and .911 from 2019 to 2022, respectively. In a reduced role, Talbot may have a better chance of staying healthy and returning to his prior form, which would give the Kings a quality backup with plenty of experience who can take on more responsibility in a pinch.
