After acquiring center Alex Wennberg in a deal with the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday, the New York Rangers made their second move on Thursday afternoon.
For the price of a fourth-round pick in 2027, the Rangers had added depth to their blue line, acquiring Chad Ruhwedel from the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Ruhwedel is a 32-year-old right-shot defenseman who is a pending unrestricted free agent with an $800,000 cap hit.
In 47 games, the San Diego, CA native has a goal and three assists, averaging 12:33 minutes per game with 37 blocks and 75 hits.
He'll serve as an extra defenseman.
The Rangers now have $2.098 million in cap space.
The 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is today at 3 PM ET.
