A handful of coaching rumors have caught attention across the NHL, including two teams currently in the playoffs. But will any of these coaches actually part with their team?

Sometimes a significant rumor about an NHL coach can overshadow the Stanley Cup playoffs. On Wednesday, the NHL world was abuzz with speculation over Rod Brind'Amour's future as coach of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Brind'Amour is in the final season of his contract with the Hurricanes. Luke DeCock of The Charlotte Observer reported sources claiming he was “unsure about his future in Carolina” as an extension still hadn't been concluded. That's generated rumors tying Brind'Amour to other potential coaching jobs around the league.
One of them is the Seattle Kraken, who fired Dave Hakstol as coach last week. DeCock indicated there was conjecture suggesting Kraken GM Ron Francis was preparing an expensive offer to Brind'Amour.
Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon told DeCock he believed negotiations between Brind'Amour and GM Don Waddell were “all but done” with just “the last little stuff” to get through. Nevertheless, TSN's Darren Dreger also reported Brind'Amour's future seemed “up in the air,” noting a deal seemed close but it's believed the Hurricanes pulled their offer.
Waddell told reporters he remained confident of an agreement with Brind'Amour. “We're gonna get it done,” he said. “I'm not worried about it. He wants to be a Hurricane for life.”
Brind'Amour echoed that view during an interview with ESPN's The Point on Wednesday and speaking with reporters on Thursday. “I feel really good that we'll figure it out quickly. I'm not concerned,” he said.
Before the Brind'Amour rumors emerged, Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos created a stir when he reported in the Toronto Star last Friday that Pittsburgh Penguins bench boss Mike Sullivan could join the New Jersey Devils.
Kypreos noted that Sullivan was close friends with Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald. He suggested it could come down to Sullivan's lack of confidence in Penguins GM Kyle Dubas' ability to contend.
Four days later, Dubas told The Athletic's Rob Rossi the Devils have not sought permission nor been granted permission to speak with Sullivan.
The Hockey News' Nick Horwat added that Sullivan likely won't be part of any team adjustments this season despite reports of possible tension regarding whether Pittsburgh's assistant coaches should be changed.
(Update: Dubas announced Friday that associate coach Todd Reirden is relieved of his duties.
"Mike Sullivan and I have spent time over the past two weeks evaluating the coaching staff, and although these decisions are never easy, we agree that this change was in the best interest of the team moving forward," Dubas said in a statement.)
Meanwhile, speculation is swirling about Sheldon Keefe's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A Postmedia report claimed former St. Louis Blues coach Craig Berube would be the top candidate for the Leafs job if Keefe is fired at the end of the playoffs. The report suggested Dubas would then allow Sullivan to head to New Jersey, making room to bring Keefe to Pittsburgh.
