Laval to Host the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic

After COVID-19 canceled the event in 2022, the Laval Rocket will finally host the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic.

Barring any further catastrophes, the AHL All-Star Classic will finally make its way to Laval.

The Laval Rocket, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, is set to host the American League's marquee midseason event for the first time in franchise history next season, with the AHL's best and brightest expected to travel to Place Bell and showcase their many talents for all to see.

This is not the first time that the Rocket has been tapped to host the All-Star Classic, however. It's just the first time they will, hopefully, be able to see it through.

Laval was actually supposed to play host to the event this season that would have, if circumstances allowed it, been held earlier this month. Unfortunately, their excitement was squashed when the AHL was forced to cancel the 2022 All-Star Classic in December amid surging cases of the COVID-19 omicron variant.

With the virus forcing the postponement of multiple games and landing hundreds of players in health and safety protocols, holding an event that would have seen members from each of the league's 32 organizations spread across North America congregate in one place just did not seem viable.

The good news is that the city of Laval will not be robbed of their hosting honors, after all, finally getting the opportunity to welcome AHL players and fans alike next season for what should be a can't-miss event.

The last All-Star Classic put on by the AHL came in 2020, prior to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and was hosted by the Ontario Reign, AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings.

If this event is able to go ahead as planned, it will serve as another step towards a return to normal that is desperately needed.
