The Hockey News

Status: Calgary Flames right winger

DOB: Feb. 4, 1983 In: West Seneca, NY.

Ht: 6-feet Wt: 200 pounds

First Hockey Memory: "The first time I skated I was four years old. And the Learn To Skate program in Buffalo - my mom and dad took me after work, after I came home from school. My parents let me go out on the ice, my dad came out and let me push the chair. And I had bright green hockey pants because they were the cheapest ones. Then my grandmother bought me an old-school Buffalo Sabres jersey."

Hockey Inspirations: "Like what hockey players I look up to? Probably Steve Yzerman and Joe Sakic. Great all-around players and winners and both players that made the players around them better. But also really classy and well-respected by other players. I got to play against them both, which was pretty awesome."

Nicknames: "Nothing too exciting, just Stemp or Stemper."

Current Car: "BMW."

Greatest Sports Moment: "I'm still searching for it. I guess my first NHL goal was pretty special. But anything else is second to winning the Stanley Cup. So I think I'm still searching for it."

Most Painful Moment: "I don't know if I ever really had one. I've been traded a few times, those can be difficult. But I think maybe the first time I was traded from St. Louis to Toronto was a pretty big shock, but not overly disappointing."

Favorite Uniforms: "St. Louis Blues."

Favorite Arena: "Madison Square Garden."

Embarrassing Hockey Memory: "In a shootout, I came down and sort of shanked the shootout shot against Columbus and it went in the corner and missed the net by probably 20 feet."

Closest Hockey Friends: "Probably a couple of guys. I played in college with Tanner Glass. Just friends from college are my closest friends."

Funniest Players Encountered: "Adrian Aucoin. He can impersonate anyone. He's always on. You can't even make fun of him because he's always impersonating someone else. The entire time you don't feel like you know his true personality. He's always funny, keeps it loose and he's a great guy."

Toughest Competitors Encountered: "Probably Shane Doan, Jarome Iginla."

Most Memorable Goal: "Ah...first NHL goal."

Strangest Game: "In Phoenix, third year with St. Louis. We started the year in Phoenix and there was a fire alarm. And we all had to go back in the locker room. They quarantined us off while they checked things out. It ended up being nothing, but it delayed the game about 40 minutes."

Favorite Sport Outside Hockey:
"Probably football."

Favorite Players To Watch: "Pavel Datsyuk and Sidney Crosby."

Last Vacation: "Italy, the Amalfi Coast. For my honeymoon."

Personality Qualities Most Admired:
"I'm big on loyalty, commitment and hard work. Those three things, no matter what you do in life, it takes you really far and those are three things you really look to count on with people."
