Lemieux Suspended Five Games for Biting Tkachuck
Keep your teeth to yourself.
That's the message the NHL is trying to send Brendan Lemieux on Tuesday evening, suspending the Los Angeles Kings forward five games for biting the hand of Ottawa's Brady Tkachuk during an altercation on Sunday night.
After tussling with Lemieux on the ice following a whistle, Tkachuk emerged from the dogpile enraged, pointed to his hand that was dripping blood, and yelled to the officials that Lemieux had bitten him. Video evidence seems to back that up.
This is the third suspension that Lemieux has been given in just 194 games in the NHL. He's also been fined once, making him a repeat offender and therefore subject to a harsher penalty for yet another transgression.
The 25-year-old is building himself quite the resume as a troublemaker in the professional ranks. With just five points in 14 games this season, it would be wise for Lemiuex to focus on hockey, rather than how his opponents taste.
