Roberto Luongo is now 3-0 against Cory Schneider as the former Vancouver Canucks' teammates faced each other for the third time this season and their first since 'Bobby Lu' was traded back to the Florida Panthers.
Cory Schneider looked like he might finally exact a little revenge over ex-Canucks teammate Roberto Luongo.
Luongo beat Schneider twice early in the season when 'Bobby Lu' was still a Vancouver Canuck, but Schneider had the upper hand midway through their third meeting of the season, and their first since Luongo was traded back to Florida, with New Jersey up 3-1.
But the Panthers scored four straight goals, including three in the third period, for a come-from-behind 5-3 win over the Devils, capped by Vincent Trochek's first NHL goal – an empty-netter with 32.5 seconds left in the game.
The win makes Luongo a perfect 3-0 against Schneider, though neither goalie was impressive. But Luongo was sharp when he needed to be, stopping all 11 shots he faced in the third period, while Schneider let in two of the seven he faced in the final frame.
Schneider, though, can at least take solace in still being in the post-season hunt, with the Devils just two points out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, while the Panthers are well out of the race.
