Manitoba Moose name veteran blue-liner Nolan Baumgartner captain

WINNIPEG - Veteran defenceman Nolan Baumgartner was named captain of Manitoba Moose on Wednesday.

It will be the second time he's worn the C for the American Hockey League club, having served as captain during the 2004-05 season.

Marco Rosa and Joel Perrault were named assistant captains.

The 34-year-old Baumgartner has 77 goals and 263 assists with 754 penalty minutes in 756 AHL games.

Baumgartner has also played in 143 career NHL games, recording seven goals and 40 assists.

Baumgartner was originally selected in the first round (10th overall) by the Washington Capitals in the 1994 NHL draft.
