The Toronto Maple Leafs have found their guy.

The Maple Leafs officially kicked off the post-Kyle Dubas era on Wednesday, announcing the hiring of Brad Treliving as the 18th GM in franchise history.

"Brad brings a wealth of knowledge from his years of experience as a general manager and hockey executive in Calgary, Arizona and beyond," said Leafs president Brendan Shanahan in a statement on Wednesday. "He has earned tremendous respect amongst his peers throughout his years in the NHL and has built excellent relationships at all levels within the game.

"We are confident that Brad's leadership and strategic vision will elevate the Maple Leafs in our continued pursuit of a championship."

Treliving arrives in Toronto after nine seasons at the helm of the Calgary Flames, taking over for Brian Burke back in 2014 and leading the club to five post-season appearances and two Pacific Division titles.

After losing a pair of franchise stars in Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk during the 2022 off-season, Treliving swung for the fences shortly after by landing massive acquisitions in Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar and Nazem Kadri to keep the Flames in contention.

Alas, those lofty goals did not come to fruition, as the roster clashed with coach Darryl Sutter all season long and ultimately failed to make the playoffs, leading to Treliving parting ways with the organization in the weeks after the season ended.

With the Maple Leafs, Treliving will enter a similarly pivotal off-season, with the likes of Auston Matthews and William Nylander becoming eligible for contract extensions and the status of Mitch Marner's future with the team decidedly up in the air. Treliving will also have to make a decision on whether or not to make a change behind the bench, given the Maple Leafs' disappointing exit from the playoffs this past season and current coach Sheldon Keefe's relationship with Dubas.

Nevertheless, this certainly seems to be the first of a flurry of moves set to come inside the Maple Leafs' front office this summer.
