Edmonton (31-27-6) at Toronto (26-26-13) 7:00 p.m. EST

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Teams headed in opposite directions meet

Saturday when the Edmonton Oilers visit the Toronto Maple Leafs.

A 2-4-2 stretch in its last eight games has dropped Edmonton

into a tie with Dallas and Anaheim for the eighth and final

playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Sam Gagner had both goals in a 4-2 loss to Ottawa on Thursday as

the Senators scored 12 seconds into the game and opened a 3-0

lead midway through the second.

Toronto, once buried in the bottom of the standings, has pulled

to within nine points of Florida, Pittsburgh and the Rangers,

all of whom are tied for sixth place in the Eastern Conference.

Picked up off re-entry waivers Wednesday after his starting job

in Ottawa earlier this season, Martin Gerber made 37 saves in

his first game with the new team on Thursday, a 2-1 victory over

Washington.
